The Bathhouse Albion

The lighting needed to do more than illuminate the space; it played a central role in creating the distinctive atmosphere of the bathhouse. The design called for a warm, fire-lit ambience that complemented the silver travertine and natural textures while allowing each area to establish its own mood.

From the saunas to the steam rooms, the lighting needed to support a gradual shift in atmosphere throughout the retreat, creating a cohesive sensory experience that encouraged guests to slow down, unwind and reconnect.

LAD supplied a combination of iGuzzini Light Up Orbit, iGuzzini Walky, iGuzzini Trick and Nocturnal Stella lighting solutions.

Together, the selected fittings contribute to a layered lighting scheme that enhances the architectural materials and helps establish the warm, atmospheric character of the space. The lighting works in harmony with the interior design, creating a balance between functional illumination and subtle visual drama.

The considered approach allows the different wellness spaces to develop their own distinct moods while maintaining a cohesive design language throughout the bathhouse.

iGuzzini Light Up Orbit

The iGuzzini Light Up Orbit forms part of the architectural lighting scheme, contributing to the considered illumination of the interior and supporting the overall design vision.

iGuzzini Walky

The iGuzzini Walky lighting solution contributes to the wider lighting approach, helping integrate functional illumination into the architectural environment.

iGuzzini Trick

The iGuzzini Trick adds to the architectural lighting scheme, supporting the interplay of light, shadow and materiality that defines the bathhouse experience.

Nocturnal Stella

The Nocturnal Stella forms part of the layered lighting solution, complementing the natural textures and contributing to the warm, immersive atmosphere throughout the retreat.

The completed lighting installation plays an integral role in shaping The Bathhouse Albion's distinctive wellness environment. By combining carefully selected architectural lighting with natural materials and considered interior design, the scheme creates an immersive atmosphere that supports rest, relaxation and reflection.

The project received a 2026 IES Lighting Award of Commendation in recognition of the lighting design.
